For their first release with Dead Oceans, the abrasively shoegaze clan come out guns ablaze on the five-track Onwards To The Wall ep. The 16-minute release comes and goes even quicker than billed as the throttling guitars scream by at top speed and unfortunately, for the most part, fail to capture the scorched grace of their last significant record and career high-point thus far, Exploding Head. Still, when looking for a modern merciless high-stakes shoegaze act, besides Ceremony, No Age or HEALTH, A Place To Bury Strangers can still fill that bill, albeit the bottom of it despite the most intimidating moniker.
